Artist's Description

I don't believe I've seen Killed on a headstone before. Since I had the date of Thomas Hooper's death, I decided to check the historical news papers of the day at the Denver Public Library. He was a miner from England who came to America to join the Gold Rush to the Rockies. Thomas was moving an ore cart inside a mine when the track gave way and he fell down a shaft. The cart and ore fell on top of him as well as part of the wall. He was only 22 years old when he died.
