Each summer I see several Black Crowned Night Herons along the South Platte River and at Ketring Lake in Littleton, Colorado. They are a lot less skittish than the Great Blue Herons which makes them easier to photograph. They fish along the shallow areas whereas the Great Blue Herons can wade into deeper water.
