Artist's Description

This Momma Black Bear and her two cubs were on the south side of the South Platte River foraging for food. At one point, they came down the mountainside and crossed over the river. I was standing with 4 or 5 photographers when this happened. We all backed off on the trail and waited. She appeared in an area we did not expect to see her. She was much closer than we anticipated. We stopped hikers and bikers from going through the area. The cubs were on the riverside of the trail while mom was on the north side of the trail. The cubs crossed the trail behind us. Another surprise. Once mom and her cubs were united the disappeared into the thickets and normal activities of the hikers, bikers and photographers resumed.

This was my first foray into digital photography. Since then I have graduated from point and shoot cameras to DSLR's. My first DSLR...
